छठ पूजा मंत्र — सूर्य और छठी मैया की उपासना
Chhath Puja (छठ पूजा) is the great festival of Surya (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya, celebrated mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern UP and Nepal. Over four days, devotees fast (often without water), stand in water, and offer arghya (water) to the setting and rising Sun. These are the mantras and prayers for Chhath Puja.
Surya Mantra — Salutation to the Sun
Chant "Om Suryaya Namah" and "Om Hraam Hreem Hraum Sah Suryaya Namah" while offering arghya to the Sun at dawn and dusk — the heart of Chhath Puja.
Aditya Hridaya Stotra — The Heart of the Sun
The powerful hymn to Surya from the Ramayana, by which Rama defeated Ravana. Recited during Chhath for the Sun's strength, health and vitality.
Surya Chalisa & Surya Aarti
Recite the Surya Chalisa and sing the Surya Aarti during the four days of Chhath to honour the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya.
Gayatri Mantra — Hymn to Savitr (the Sun)
The Gayatri Mantra is itself addressed to Savitr, the Sun. Chant it at sunrise during Chhath for the light and grace of Surya.
Surya Namaskar Mantras
The twelve names of the Sun (Om Mitraya Namah…) chanted at dawn during Chhath while offering arghya to the rising Sun.
