आदित्य हृदय स्तोत्र

Verse 1
ततो युद्धपरिश्रान्तं समरे चिन्तया स्थितम्।
रावणं चाग्रतो दृष्ट्वा युद्धाय समुपस्थितम्॥
Tato Yuddha Parishrantam Samare Chintaya Sthitam
Ravanam Chagrato Drishtva Yuddhaya Samupasthitam
Then, seeing Rama exhausted and worried in the midst of battle, and Ravana standing before him ready for combat.
Verse 2
दैवतैश्च समागम्य द्रष्टुमभ्यागतो रणम्।
उपागम्याब्रवीद्रामं अगस्त्यो भगवानृषिः॥
Daivataischa Samagamya Drashtum Abhyagato Ranam
Upagamya Abravid Ramam Agastyo Bhagavan Rishiph
The great sage Agastya, who had come with the gods to witness the battle, approached Rama and spoke.
Verse 3
राम राम महाबाहो शृणु गुह्यं सनातनम्।
येन सर्वानरीन्वत्स समरे विजयिष्यसि॥
Rama Rama Mahabaho Shrinu Guhyam Sanatanam
Yena Sarvan Areen Vatsa Samare Vijayishyasi
O Rama, O mighty-armed one, listen to this eternal secret by which, my child, you shall conquer all your enemies in battle.
Verse 4
आदित्यहृदयं पुण्यं सर्वशत्रुविनाशनम्।
जयावहं जपेन्नित्यं अक्षय्यं परमं शिवम्॥
Aditya Hridayam Punyam Sarva Shatru Vinashanam
Jayavaham Japen Nityam Akshayam Paramam Shivam
This is the Aditya Hridayam, the holy hymn that destroys all enemies. It brings victory, and should be chanted daily — it is imperishable, supremely auspicious.
Verse 5
सर्वमङ्गलमाङ्गल्यं सर्वपापप्रणाशनम्।
चिन्ताशोकप्रशमनं आयुर्वर्धनमुत्तमम्॥
Sarva Mangala Mangalyam Sarva Papa Pranashanam
Chinta Shoka Prashamanam Ayur Vardhanam Uttamam
It is the most auspicious of all auspicious things, the destroyer of all sins. It is the best remedy for worry and grief, and the supreme increaser of life span.
Verse 6
रश्मिमन्तं समुद्यन्तं देवासुरनमस्कृतम्।
पूजयस्व विवस्वन्तं भास्करं भुवनेश्वरम्॥
Rashmimantam Samudyantam Devasura Namaskritam
Pujayasva Vivasvantam Bhaskaram Bhuvaneshvaram
Worship the radiant Sun as he rises — revered by gods and demons alike. Worship Vivasvant, the light-maker, the Lord of all worlds.
Verse 7
सर्वदेवात्मको ह्येष तेजस्वी रश्मिभावनः।
एष देवासुरगणान् लोकान् पाति गभस्तिभिः॥
Sarva Devatmako Hyesha Tejaswi Rashmi Bhavanah
Esha Devasura Ganan Lokan Pati Gabhastibhih
He is indeed the embodiment of all gods, the resplendent one, the source of rays. He protects all the worlds of gods and demons with his beams.
Verse 8
एष ब्रह्मा च विष्णुश्च शिवः स्कन्दः प्रजापतिः।
महेन्द्रो धनदः कालो यमः सोमो ह्यपां पतिः॥
Esha Brahma Cha Vishnushcha Shivah Skandah Prajapatih
Mahendro Dhanadah Kalo Yamah Somo Hyapam Patih
He is Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Skanda, Prajapati, the mighty Indra, Kubera (lord of wealth), Kala (Time), Yama (Death), Soma (Moon), and the Lord of Waters.
Verse 9
पितरो वसवः साध्या ह्यश्विनौ मरुतो मनुः।
वायुर्वह्निः प्रजाप्राण ऋतुकर्ता प्रभाकरः॥
Pitaro Vasavah Sadhya Hyashvinau Maruto Manuh
Vayur Vahnih Praja Prana Ritukarta Prabhakarah
He is the ancestors, the Vasus, the Sadhyas, the Ashvins, the Maruts, and Manu. He is the Wind, the Fire, the Life-breath of all creatures, the Maker of seasons, the Producer of light.
Verse 10
आदित्यः सविता सूर्यः खगः पूषा गभस्तिमान्।
सुवर्णसदृशो भानुः हिरण्यरेता दिवाकरः॥
Adityah Savita Suryah Khagah Pusha Gabhastiman
Suvarna Sadrisho Bhanuh Hiranyareta Divakarah
He is Aditya, Savita, Surya, Khaga, Pusha, Gabhastiman. He is golden-hued, brilliant, the golden-seeded one, the Maker of the day.
Verse 11
हरिदश्वः सहस्रार्चिः सप्तसप्तिर्मरीचिमान्।
तिमिरोन्मथनः शम्भुस्त्वष्टा मार्ताण्ड अंशुमान्॥
Haridashvah Sahasrarchih Saptasaptir Marichiman
Timironmathanah Shambhus Tvashta Martanda Anshuman
He has green horses, a thousand rays, seven horses, and abundant light. He is the destroyer of darkness, the source of happiness, Tvashta, Martanda, the radiant one.
Verse 12
हिरण्यगर्भः शिशिरस्तपनो भास्करो रविः।
अग्निगर्भोऽदितेः पुत्रः शंखः शिशिरनाशनः॥
Hiranyagarbhah Shishiras Tapano Bhaskaro Ravih
Agnigarbho Aditeh Putrah Shankhah Shishira Nashanah
He is the Golden Womb, the cool one, the scorcher, the illuminator, Ravi. He carries fire within, is the son of Aditi, the conch-bearer, the destroyer of cold.
Verse 13
व्योमनाथस्तमोभेदी ऋग्यजुःसामपारगः।
घनवृष्टिरपां मित्रो विन्ध्यवीथीप्लवङ्गमः॥
Vyomanathas Tamobhedi Rigyajuh Sama Paragah
Ghanavrshtir Apam Mitro Vindhyavithi Plavangamah
He is the Lord of the sky, the piercer of darkness, master of the Rig, Yajur, and Sama Vedas. He is the sender of heavy rains, the friend of waters, who moves swiftly over the Vindhya mountains.
Verse 14
नमः पूर्वाय गिरये पश्चिमायाद्रये नमः।
ज्योतिर्गणानां पतये दिनाधिपतये नमः॥
Namah Purvaya Giraye Pashchimaya Adraye Namah
Jyotirgananam Pataye Dinadhipataye Namah
Salutations to the eastern mountain, salutations to the western mountain. Salutations to the Lord of the heavenly bodies, salutations to the Lord of the day.
Verse 15
जयाय जयभद्राय हर्यश्वाय नमो नमः।
नमो नमः सहस्रांशो आदित्याय नमो नमः॥
Jayaya Jayabhadraya Haryashvaya Namo Namah
Namo Namah Sahasramsho Adityaya Namo Namah
Victory, victory to the auspicious one! Salutations to the one with green horses! Salutations, salutations to the thousand-rayed one! Salutations to Aditya!
Verse 16
एनमापत्सु कृच्छ्रेषु कान्तारेषु भयेषु च।
कीर्तयन् पुरुषः कश्चिन्नावसीदति राघव॥
Enam Apatsu Krichhreshu Kantareshu Bhayeshu Cha
Kirtayan Purushah Kashchin Na Avasidati Raghava
Whoever recites this hymn in times of danger, hardship, in the wilderness, or in moments of fear — that person, O Raghava, shall never be overcome.
