Sai Baba Puja Vidhi at Home
साईं बाबा पूजा विधि
Shirdi Sai Baba is revered as a saint, fakir and Sadguru who taught "Sabka Malik Ek" (one God governs all) and lived the twin principles of Shraddha (faith) and Saburi (patience). Thursday (Guruvar) is his special day. This is the complete step-by-step Sai Baba puja vidhi for the home — for daily worship, the Thursday vrat, or a Sai Satcharitra parayan. The puja is simple and needs only sincere devotion; Baba asks for faith and patience, not elaborate ritual.
Puja Samagri (Materials Required)
Step-by-Step Puja Vidhi
Snan & Shuddhi (Purification)
Bathe and wear clean clothes — yellow or white are preferred. Clean the altar and sprinkle Gangajal on the place and yourself. Sit facing East or North.
Sthapana (Place the idol)
Place the Sai Baba idol or photo on a yellow cloth on a clean platform. Light the ghee/oil diya and the agarbatti before beginning.
Sankalp (Intention)
Fold your hands, take Baba's name, and resolve your purpose with faith — "Shraddha aur Saburi." Surrender your worry to him.
Tilak & Flowers
Apply chandan and kumkum tilak on Baba's forehead. Offer yellow flowers and a garland at his feet. Place a tulsi leaf in the offering.
Naivedya (Offering)
Offer the sweets, fruit or khichdi as bhog. In Shirdi, simple food cooked with love (Baba's handi) is the tradition — offer with humility.
Naam Jaap (Mantra)
Chant "Om Sai Ram" or "Om Sai Namo Namah, Shri Sai Namo Namah" 108 times on a mala. Then recite the Sai Baba Chalisa.
Satcharitra Path
Read one chapter (adhyaya) of the Sai Satcharitra. On Thursdays many devotees do a Saptah (7-day) or single-day parayan of the holy book.
Aarti
Light the camphor and perform Sai Aarti — "Aarti Sai Baba, Saukhyadatara Jiva." (In Shirdi the four daily aartis are Kakad, Madhyan, Dhoop and Shej.) Rotate the lamp clockwise.
Udi & Prarthana
Apply a little udi (sacred ash) to your forehead and distribute it as prasad — it symbolises that everything is transient and only God is permanent. Pray for your wish, then resolve to help someone in need (Baba loved Dakshina as charity).

Important Tips
Thursday (Guruvar) is Sai Baba's day — light a lamp, chant "Om Sai Ram", and read a Satcharitra chapter even if you keep no fast.
Baba asks for two coins of Dakshina: Shraddha (faith) and Saburi (patience). Real worship is faith plus a good deed — feed someone poor or hungry.
Udi (ash from Baba's Dhuni) is his prasad. Keep a little at home; apply with faith when troubled.
A simple, honest puja pleases Baba more than show. "Sabka Malik Ek" — keep your heart free of hatred.
