Vishnu Puja Vidhi at Home
विष्णु पूजा विधि
Lord Vishnu (Narayana) is the preserver of the universe, worshipped for protection, prosperity and liberation. This is the complete step-by-step guide for performing Vishnu Puja at home — especially on Thursdays (Guruvar) and Ekadashi. Follow this vidhi for Narayana's grace, stability and peace.
Puja Samagri (Materials Required)
Step-by-Step Puja Vidhi
Purification
Bathe and wear clean (yellow) clothes. Clean the altar, sprinkle Ganga Jal, and face East or North.
Invoke Ganesha
Begin with "Om Gam Ganapataye Namah" to clear obstacles.
Vishnu Sthapana
Place the Vishnu idol or Shaligram on a yellow cloth. Apply chandan tilak and offer a garland of yellow flowers or lotus.
Panchamrit Abhishek
Bathe the idol/Shaligram with Panchamrit, then with water, and dry gently. Blow the conch and ring the bell.
Tulsi & Shringar
Offer fresh clothes, chandan and a tulsi leaf — Vishnu is especially pleased by Tulsi. Offer yellow flowers at his feet.
Naivedya (Bhog)
Offer kheer, besan ladoo, banana and fruits — with a tulsi leaf on each. On Thursday, offer chana dal and jaggery; on Ekadashi, sattvic, grain-free bhog.
Mantra Japa
Chant "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya" or "Om Namo Narayanaya" 108 times. Recite the Vishnu Sahasranama (especially on Thursday) and the Vishnu Chalisa.
Vishnu Aarti
Perform the Aarti "Om Jai Jagdish Hare" with camphor, rotating the lamp clockwise, then offer the conch-water and distribute prasad.
Prarthana
Pray to Narayana for protection, stability and the welfare of your family. On Ekadashi, observe the fast and stay in remembrance of the Lord.

Important Tips
Tulsi is essential to Vishnu worship — every bhog needs a tulsi leaf, and a Tulsi plant should be kept and watered daily.
Thursday (Guruvar) is Vishnu's day — recite the Vishnu Sahasranama and offer chana dal, jaggery and yellow items.
Ekadashi (twice a month) is the most sacred day for Vishnu — fast and chant his names through the day.
Yellow is Vishnu's colour — use yellow flowers, cloth and sweets.
