सरस्वती पूजा विधि
Goddess Saraswati is the deity of knowledge, music, art and wisdom. This is the complete step-by-step guide for performing Saraswati Puja at home — for Basant Panchami, before exams, or to begin a child's education (Vidyarambham). Follow this vidhi for the Mother's blessings of learning, memory and eloquence.

Step-by-Step Puja Vidhi
Purification
Bathe and wear clean clothes — yellow or white is auspicious for Saraswati. Clean the altar and sprinkle Ganga Jal. Face East or North.
Ganesh Vandana
Invoke Lord Ganesha first with "Om Gam Ganapataye Namah" so the puja is free of obstacles.
Saraswati Sthapana
Place the Saraswati idol on a yellow cloth. Apply a kesar (saffron) or kumkum tilak and offer a garland of yellow flowers.
Place Books & Instruments
Keep your books, pens, and any musical instruments before the Goddess to be blessed. Students place their study material at her feet.
Avahana & Snan
Invoke the Goddess with "Om Aim Saraswatyai Namah", offering akshata. Bathe the idol gently and apply white sandalwood paste.
Offerings (Naivedya)
Offer yellow flowers, yellow sweets (kesar boondi), fruits (especially ber), and a coconut. Light the ghee diya and incense.
Mantra Japa
Recite the Saraswati Vandana "Ya Kundendu Tushara Hara Dhavala", then chant the Beej Mantra "Om Aim Saraswatyai Namah" 108 times on a mala. Recite the Saraswati Chalisa.
Saraswati Aarti
Perform the Saraswati Aarti "Om Jai Saraswati Mata" with camphor, rotating the lamp clockwise.
Prarthana & Vidyarambham
Pray for wisdom, memory and success in study. This is the ideal day to begin a child's learning (Vidyarambham) — have the child write their first letters before the Goddess.
