About Mahagauri — महागौरी
Goddess Mahagauri is the eighth form of Navdurga. After performing severe austerities to win Lord Shiva, Parvati's body became dark and covered with dust. When Lord Shiva washed her with the holy waters of the Ganga, she became radiantly fair — "Mahagauri" (Great White/Fair One). She wears white clothes, rides a white bull, and represents purity, serenity, and cleanliness. She removes all sins and purifies the devotee. Ashtami (Day 8) is considered the most powerful day of Navratri.
Offerings & Bhog for Day 8
Offer coconut (nariyal) to Goddess Mahagauri. The prasad for Day 8 is coconut-based sweets or plain coconut. Perform Kanya Pujan (worship of 9 young girls) and serve them food.
