The Budh Stotram is a cherished traditional hymn. A hymn to Budha (Mercury) — the green-hued planet of intellect, speech and learning, son of Chandra — recited for sharp intelligence, eloquence, success in study and trade, and the pacifying of Budha’s afflictions.

It is said that to recite the Budh Stotram with a sincere and devoted heart is to draw near to the grace of the divine, which never forsakes those who lovingly call upon it.

ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਪੰਗਤੀ ਜਾਂ ▶ ਬਟਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਕੇ ਸੁਣੋ
ਅਸ੍ਯ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਬੁਧਸ੍ਤੋਤ੍ਰਮਹਾਮਨ੍ਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਯ ਵਸਿष੍ਠ ऋषਿਃ । ਅਨੁष੍ਟੁਪ੍ਛਨ੍ਦਃ । ਬੁਧੋ ਦੇਵਤਾ । ਬੁਧਪ੍ਰੀਤ੍ਯਰ੍ਥੇ ਜਪੇ ਵਿਨਿਯੋਗਃ । ਧ੍ਯਾਨਮ੍ । ਭੁਜੈਸ਼੍ਚਤੁਰ੍ਭਿਰ੍ਵਰਦਾਭਯਾਸਿਗਦਂ ਵਹਨ੍ਤਂ ਸੁਮੁਖਂ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਨ੍ਤਮ੍ । ਪੀਤਪ੍ਰਭਂ ਚਨ੍ਦ੍ਰਸੁਤਂ ਸੁਰੇਢ੍ਯਂ ਸਿਮ੍ਹੇ ਨਿषਣ੍ਣਂ ਬੁਧਮਾਸ਼੍ਰਯਾਮਿ ॥ ਪੀਤਾਮ੍ਬਰਃ ਪੀਤਵਪੁਃ ਪੀਤਧ੍ਵਜਰਥਸ੍ਥਿਤਃ । ਪੀਯੂषਰਸ਼੍ਮਿਤਨਯਃ ਪਾਤੁ ਮਾਂ ਸਰ੍ਵਦਾ ਬੁਧਃ ॥ ੧॥ ਸਿਂਹਵਾਹਂ ਸਿਦ੍ਧਨੁਤਂ ਸੌਮ੍ਯਂ ਸੌਮ੍ਯਗੁਣਾਨ੍ਵਿਤਮ੍ । ਸੋਮਸੂਨੁਂ ਸੁਰਾਰਾਧ੍ਯਂ ਸਰ੍ਵਦਂ ਸੌਮ੍ਯਮਾਸ਼੍ਰਯੇ ॥ ੨॥ ਬੁਧਂ ਬੁਦ੍ਧਿਪ੍ਰਦਾਤਾਰਂ ਬਾਣਬਾਣਾਸਨੋਜ੍ਜ੍ਵਲਮ੍ । ਭਦ੍ਰਪ੍ਰਦਂ ਭੀਤਿਹਰਂ ਭਕ੍ਤਪਾਲਨਮਾਸ਼੍ਰਯੇ ॥ ੩॥ ਆਤ੍ਰੇਯਗੋਤ੍ਰਸਞ੍ਜਾਤਮਾਸ਼੍ਰਿਤਾਰ੍ਤਿਨਿਵਾਰਣਮ੍ । ਆਦਿਤੇਯਕੁਲਾਰਾਧ੍ਯਮਾਸ਼ੁਸਿਦ੍ਧਿਦਮਾਸ਼੍ਰਯੇ ॥ ੪॥ ਕਲਾਨਿਧਿਤਨੂਜਾਤਂ ਕਰੁਣਾਰਸਵਾਰਿਧਿਮ੍ । ਕਲ੍ਯਾਣਦਾਯਿਨਂ ਨਿਤ੍ਯਂ ਕਨ੍ਯਾਰਾਸ਼੍ਯਧਿਪਂ ਭਜੇ ॥ ੫॥ ਮਨ੍ਦਸ੍ਮਿਤਮੁਖਾਮ੍ਭੋਜਂ ਮਨ੍ਮਥਾਯੁਤਸੁਨ੍ਦਰਮ੍ । ਮਿਥੁਨਾਧੀਸ਼ਮਨਘਂ ਮृਗਾਙ੍ਕਤਨਯਂ ਭਜੇ ॥ ੬॥ ਚਤੁਰ੍ਭੁਜਂ ਚਾਰੁਰੂਪਂ ਚਰਾਚਰਜਗਤ੍ਪ੍ਰਭੁਮ੍ । ਚਰ੍ਮਖਡ੍ਗਧਰਂ ਵਨ੍ਦੇ ਚਨ੍ਦ੍ਰਗ੍ਰਹਤਨੂਭਵਮ੍ ॥ ੭॥ ਪਞ੍ਚਾਸ੍ਯਵਾਹਨਗਤਂ ਪਞ੍ਚਪਾਤਕਨਾਸ਼ਨਮ੍ । ਪੀਤਗਨ੍ਧਂ ਪੀਤਮਾਲ੍ਯਂ ਬੁਧਂ ਬੁਧਨੁਤਂ ਭਜੇ ॥ ੮॥ ਬੁਧਸ੍ਤੋਤ੍ਰਮਿਦਂ ਗੁਹ੍ਯਂ ਵਸਿष੍ਠੇਨੋਦਿਤਂ ਪੁਰਾ । ਯਃ ਪਠੇਚ੍ਛृਣੂਯਾਦ੍ਵਾਪਿ ਸਰ੍ਵਾਭੀष੍ਟਮਵਾਪ੍ਨੁਯਾਤ੍ ॥ ੯॥ ਇਤਿ ਬੁਧਸ੍ਤੋਤ੍ਰਂ ਸਮ੍ਪੂਰ੍ਣਮ੍ ।
asya śrībudhastotramahāmantrasya vasiṣṭha ṛṣiḥ | anuṣṭupchandaḥ | budho devatā | budhaprītyarthe jape viniyogaḥ | dhyānam | bhujaiścaturbhirvaradābhayāsigadaṃ vahantaṃ sumukhaṃ praśāntam | pītaprabhaṃ candrasutaṃ sureḍhyaṃ simhe niṣaṇṇaṃ budhamāśrayāmi || pītāmbaraḥ pītavapuḥ pītadhvajarathasthitaḥ | pīyūṣaraśmitanayaḥ pātu māṃ sarvadā budhaḥ || 1|| siṃhavāhaṃ siddhanutaṃ saumyaṃ saumyaguṇānvitam | somasūnuṃ surārādhyaṃ sarvadaṃ saumyamāśraye || 2|| budhaṃ buddhipradātāraṃ bāṇabāṇāsanojjvalam | bhadrapradaṃ bhītiharaṃ bhaktapālanamāśraye || 3|| ātreyagotrasañjātamāśritārtinivāraṇam | āditeyakulārādhyamāśusiddhidamāśraye || 4|| kalānidhitanūjātaṃ karuṇārasavāridhim | kalyāṇadāyinaṃ nityaṃ kanyārāśyadhipaṃ bhaje || 5|| mandasmitamukhāmbhojaṃ manmathāyutasundaram | mithunādhīśamanaghaṃ mṛgāṅkatanayaṃ bhaje || 6|| caturbhujaṃ cārurūpaṃ carācarajagatprabhum | carmakhaḍgadharaṃ vande candragrahatanūbhavam || 7|| pañcāsyavāhanagataṃ pañcapātakanāśanam | pītagandhaṃ pītamālyaṃ budhaṃ budhanutaṃ bhaje || 8|| budhastotramidaṃ guhyaṃ vasiṣṭhenoditaṃ purā | yaḥ paṭhecchṛṇūyādvāpi sarvābhīṣṭamavāpnuyāt || 9|| iti budhastotraṃ sampūrṇam |
ਅਰਥ:बुध (बुध ग्रह) की स्तुति — बुद्धि, वाणी व विद्या के हरित-वर्ण ग्रह, चंद्र-पुत्र — जो तीव्र बुद्धि, वाक्-पटुता, विद्या व व्यापार में सफलता तथा बुध-दोष शमन हेतु पढ़ी जाती है।

बुध स्तोत्रम् ਪਾਠ ਵਿਧੀ
Bathe and sit facing north before an image of the deity. Light a lamp and recite the Budh Stotram slowly and with devotion. It may be chanted daily, or especially on Wednesdays and during Wednesdays.
