बीज मंत्र क्या हैं
Beej (बीज, "seed") mantras are single-syllable sounds — like Gam, Shreem or Aim — each holding the concentrated energy of a deity, the way a seed holds a whole tree. They form the core of Tantric and deity worship and are often prefixed with Om. This guide explains the main beej mantras, their deities and how to use them.
Om — the Primordial Seed (Pranava)
Om (Aum) is the original sound from which all creation and all other mantras arise — the Pranava, the seed of seeds. It precedes almost every mantra. "Om Namah Shivaya" places this primordial seed before the name of Shiva.
Gam — the Seed of Ganesha
Gam (गं) is the beej of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. The mantra "Om Gam Ganapataye Namah" is chanted before any new beginning to clear the path to success.
Shreem — the Seed of Lakshmi
Shreem (श्रीं) is the beej of Goddess Lakshmi, governing wealth, abundance and auspiciousness. "Om Shreem Mahalakshmiyei Namah" is the great prosperity mantra.
Aim — the Seed of Saraswati
Aim (ऐं) is the beej of Goddess Saraswati, governing knowledge, speech and the arts. "Om Aim Saraswatyai Namah" is chanted by students and seekers of wisdom.
Hreem, Kleem & Dum — the Shakti Seeds
Hreem (ह्रीं) is the great Maya beej of the Goddess; Kleem (क्लीं) is the seed of attraction and divine love; Dum (दुं) is the seed of Durga. They combine in the Navarna mantra "Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichche", the core mantra of Shakti worship.
How to Use Beej Mantras
Beej mantras are potent and are best taken from a guru and chanted with correct pronunciation, focus and a sattvic life. Chant on a mala (108 times), ideally prefixed with Om and joined to the deity's name. For most people, a full Vedic mantra like the Gayatri is a safe and complete daily practice.
