Origin & Story

Traditional Navagraha (planetary) stotra · Traditional · Ancient

Shukra — the planet Venus — is personified as Shukracharya, son of the sage Bhrigu and guru of the asuras, master of the Mrita-sanjivani vidya that revives the dead. As one of the Navagrahas (nine planets), Shukra governs love, marriage, beauty, the arts, comfort and wealth. The Shukra Stotra and his bija mantra are chanted as a classical remedy to strengthen a weak Venus and win its gentle, prosperous influence.

As told in scripture

In Jyotisha (Vedic astrology), Venus is the great benefic governing love, marriage and the good things of life. Devotees with delayed marriage, relationship troubles or a weak Venus traditionally chant the Shukra mantra on Fridays — offering white flowers and sweets — and report harmony, union and renewed prosperity flowing into their lives.
