Origin & Story

Traditional Gayatri invocation of Lord Hanuman · Traditional · Classical Hindu tradition

Like the Gayatri mantras composed for many deities, the Hanuman Gayatri follows the sacred Gayatri metre — vidmahe (may we know), dhimahi (may we meditate), prachodayat (may he inspire). It distils the worship of Hanuman, the mighty son of Anjana and Vayu, into a single luminous prayer for strength, courage and a focused mind.

The Mantra

Om Anjaneyaya Vidmahe Vayuputraya Dhimahi. Tanno Hanumat Prachodayat.
