The Damodarashtakam is traditionally ascribed to Satyavrata Muni (Padma Purana). A beloved eight-verse hymn to Krishna as Damodara — the child whose waist was bound with a rope by mother Yashoda. Sung especially through the month of Kartik (Damodara month), it adores the Lord who is bound by the love of His devotees.
✦ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ
It is said that to recite the Damodarashtakam with a sincere and devoted heart is to draw near to the grace of the Lord, who never forsakes those who lovingly call upon Him.

ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਪੰਗਤੀ ਜਾਂ ▶ ਬਟਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਕੇ ਸੁਣੋ
ਦਾਮੋਦਰਾਯ ਕृष੍ਣਾਯ ਕਰੇ ਵਂਸ਼ੀਧਰਾਯ ਚ । ਉਦਰੇ ਦਾਮਬਦ੍ਧਾਯ ਬਾਲਕृष੍ਣਾਯ ਤੇ ਨਮਃ ॥ ੧॥ ਉਲੂਖਲੇਨ ਸਮ੍ਬਦ੍ਧ ਉਦਰੇऽਪਿ ਚ ਬਨ੍ਧਨਮ੍ । ਮੁਕ੍ਤਿਦਾਤਾ ਸ੍ਵਯਂ ਬਦ੍ਧ ਅਨ੍ਯਾਨ੍ ਲੋਕਾਨ੍ ਵਿਮੁਕ੍ਤਯੇ ॥ ੨॥ ਯਮਲਾਰ੍ਜੁਨਯੋਤ੍ਪਾਟ੍ਯ ਨਲਕੂਵਰ ਮੁਕ੍ਤਯੇ । ਮਣਿਗ੍ਰੀਵਾਯ ਮੋਕ੍षਞ੍ਚ ਦਦਨ੍ਤਂ ਤਂ ਨਮਾਮ੍ਯਹਮ੍ ॥ ੩॥ ਰਿਙ੍ਗਯਞ੍ਚ ਸਮਾਗਚ੍ਛਨ੍ਨਙ੍ਗਣੇ ਯਸ਼ੋਦਾਗ੍ਰਤਃ । ਪਾਲਾਯਨ ਪਰਂ ਦੇਵਂ ਦਾਮੋਦਰਂ ਨਮਾਮ੍ਯਹਮ੍ ॥ ੪॥ ਉਲੂਖਲੋਪਰ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਰੁਹ੍ਯ ਨਵਨੀਤਞ੍ਚਭੁਞ੍ਜਯਨ੍ । ਮਰ੍ਕਟਾਨ੍ਨਪਿ ਦਤ੍ਤਂ ਤਂ ਬਾਲਕृष੍ਣਂ ਨਮਾਮ੍ਯਹਮ੍ ॥ ੫॥ ਦਧਿਭਾਣ੍ਡਂ ਖਣ੍ਡਯਿਤ੍ਵਾ ਪਲਾਯਿਤ੍ਵਾ ਗਤੋऽਨ੍ਯਤਃ । ਨਵਨੀਤਞ੍ਚੌਰਕਂ ਤਂ ਦਾਮੋਦਰਂ ਨਮਾਮ੍ਯਹਮ੍ ॥ ੬॥ ਦਾਮੋਦਰੇਤਿ ਨਾਮਸ੍ਤੁ ਲੋਕਾਨ੍ ਮੁਕ੍ਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਯਕਮ੍ । ਤੇਨ ਤਂ ਸਂਸ੍ਮਰੇਨ੍ਨਿਤ੍ਯਂ ਭਵਬਨ੍ਧ ਵਿਮੁਕ੍ਤਯੇ ॥ ੭॥ ਯਸ਼ੋਦਾ ਯष੍ਟਿਕਾਂ ਧृਤ੍ਤ੍ਵਾ ਭੀषਯਨ੍ਤੀ ਭਯਾਪਹਮ੍ । ਭਯਭੀਤਾਯ ਕृष੍ਣਾਯ ਦਾਮੋਦਰਾਯਤੇ ਨਮਃ ॥ ੮॥ ਦਾਮੋਦਰਾष੍ਟਕਂ ਨਿਤ੍ਯਂ ਯੇ ਪਠਨ੍ਤਿ ਨਰਾ ਭੁਵਿ । ਤੇ ਭਵਬਨ੍ਧ ਨਿਰ੍ਮੁਕ੍ਤਾ ਯਾਨ੍ਤਿ ਤਂ ਪਰਮਂ ਪਦਮ੍ ॥ ੯॥ ਇਤਿ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ਉਮੇਸ਼੍ਵਰਾਨਨ੍ਦਤੀਰ੍ਥਵਿਰਚਿਤਂ ਦਾਮੋਦਰਾष੍ਟਕਂ ਸਮ੍ਪੂਰ੍ਣਮ੍ । ।
dāmodarāya kṛṣṇāya kare vaṃśīdharāya ca | udare dāmabaddhāya bālakṛṣṇāya te namaḥ || 1|| ulūkhalena sambaddha udare'pi ca bandhanam | muktidātā svayaṃ baddha anyān lokān vimuktaye || 2|| yamalārjunayotpāṭya nalakūvara muktaye | maṇigrīvāya mokṣañca dadantaṃ taṃ namāmyaham || 3|| riṅgayañca samāgacchannaṅgaṇe yaśodāgrataḥ | pālāyana paraṃ devaṃ dāmodaraṃ namāmyaham || 4|| ulūkhaloparyyāruhya navanītañcabhuñjayan | markaṭānnapi dattaṃ taṃ bālakṛṣṇaṃ namāmyaham || 5|| dadhibhāṇḍaṃ khaṇḍayitvā palāyitvā gato'nyataḥ | navanītañcaurakaṃ taṃ dāmodaraṃ namāmyaham || 6|| dāmodareti nāmastu lokān mukti pradāyakam | tena taṃ saṃsmarennityaṃ bhavabandha vimuktaye || 7|| yaśodā yaṣṭikāṃ dhṛttvā bhīṣayantī bhayāpaham | bhayabhītāya kṛṣṇāya dāmodarāyate namaḥ || 8|| dāmodarāṣṭakaṃ nityaṃ ye paṭhanti narā bhuvi | te bhavabandha nirmuktā yānti taṃ paramaṃ padam || 9|| iti śrī svāmī umeśvarānandatīrthaviracitaṃ dāmodarāṣṭakaṃ sampūrṇam | |
ਅਰਥ:कृष्ण के दामोदर रूप — जिनकी कमर माता यशोदा ने रस्सी से बाँधी — की प्रिय आठ श्लोकों की स्तुति। विशेषतः कार्तिक (दामोदर) मास भर गाई जाती है, यह उन प्रभु को वंदन करती है जो भक्तों के प्रेम से बँध जाते हैं।

दामोदराष्टकम् ਪਾਠ ਵਿਧੀ
Bathe and sit facing east before an image of the deity. Light a lamp and recite the Damodarashtakam slowly and with devotion. It may be chanted daily, or especially during Janmashtami and Ekadashi. Conclude with a prayer for grace and protection.
