The Markandeya Shivashtakam is traditionally ascribed to Markandeya. An eight-verse hymn to Shiva by the sage Markandeya — who by Shiva’s grace conquered death itself — adoring the Lord of the Godavari bank, Pashupati, the destroyer of fear and death.
