The Chandra Stotram is a cherished traditional hymn. A hymn of salutation to Chandra, the Moon god — the cool, nectar-rayed lord of the night and of the mind, worshipped for peace of mind, contentment and the soothing of lunar afflictions.
✦ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରେ କୁହାଯାଇଥିବା ପରି
It is said that to recite the Chandra Stotram with a sincere and devoted heart is to draw near to the grace of the divine, which never forsakes those who lovingly call upon it.
ମନ୍ତ୍ର
ଯେକୌଣସି ଧାଡ଼ି କିମ୍ବା ▶ ବଟନ୍ ଛୁଇଁ ଶୁଣନ୍ତୁ
ନମଶ୍ଚନ୍ଦ୍ରମସେ ॥ ନମଶ୍ଚନ୍ଦ୍ରାଯ ସୋମାଯେନ୍ଦଵେ କୁମୁଦବନ୍ଧଵେ । ଵିଲୋହିତାଯ ଶୁଭ୍ରାଯ ଶୁକ୍ଲାମ୍ବରଧରାଯ ଚ ॥ ୧॥ ତ୍ଵମେଵ ସର୍ଵଲୋକାନାମାପ୍ଯାଯନକରଃ ସଦା । କ୍ଷୀରୋଦ୍ଭଵାଯ ଦେଵାଯ ନମଃ ଶଙ୍ଗରଶେଖର ॥ ୨॥ ଯୁଗାନାଂ ଯୁଗକର୍ତା ତ୍ଵଂ ନିଶାନାଥୋ ନିଶାକରଃ । ସଂଵତ୍ସରାଣାଂ ମାସାନାମୃତୂନାଂ ତୁ ତଥୈଵ ଚ ॥ ୩॥ ଗ୍ରହାଣାଂ ଚ ତ୍ଵମେକୋଽସି ସୌମ୍ଯଃ ସୋମକରଃ ପ୍ରଭୁଃ । ଓଷଧୀପତଯେ ତୁଭ୍ଯଂ ରୋହିଣୀପତଯେ ନମଃ ॥ ୪॥ ଇଦଂ ତୁ ପଠତେ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରଂ ପ୍ରାତରୁତ୍ଥାଯ ଯୋ ନରଃ । ଦିଵା ଵା ଯଦି ଵା ରାତ୍ରୌ ବଦ୍ଧଚିତ୍ତୋ ହି ଯୋ ନରଃ ॥ ୫॥ ନ ଭଯଂ ଵିଦ୍ଯତେ ତସ୍ଯ କାର୍ଯସିଦ୍ଧିର୍ଭଵିଷ୍ଯତି । ଅହୋରାତ୍ରକୃତ୍ତଂ ପାପଂ ପଠନାଦେଵ ନଶ୍ଯତି ॥ ୬॥ ଦ୍ଵିଜରାଜୋ ମହାପୁଣ୍ଯସ୍ତାରାପତିର୍ଵିଶେଷତଃ । ଓଷଧୀନାଂ ଚ ଯୋ ରାଜା ସ ସୋମଃ ପ୍ରୀଯତାଂ ମମ ॥ ୭॥ ଇତି ଚନ୍ଦ୍ରସ୍ତୋତ୍ରଂ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣମ୍ ।
namaścandramase || namaścandrāya somāyendave kumudabandhave | vilohitāya śubhrāya śuklāmbaradharāya ca || 1|| tvameva sarvalokānāmāpyāyanakaraḥ sadā | kṣīrodbhavāya devāya namaḥ śaṅgaraśekhara || 2|| yugānāṃ yugakartā tvaṃ niśānātho niśākaraḥ | saṃvatsarāṇāṃ māsānāmṛtūnāṃ tu tathaiva ca || 3|| grahāṇāṃ ca tvameko'si saumyaḥ somakaraḥ prabhuḥ | oṣadhīpataye tubhyaṃ rohiṇīpataye namaḥ || 4|| idaṃ tu paṭhate stotraṃ prātarutthāya yo naraḥ | divā vā yadi vā rātrau baddhacitto hi yo naraḥ || 5|| na bhayaṃ vidyate tasya kāryasiddhirbhaviṣyati | ahorātrakṛttaṃ pāpaṃ paṭhanādeva naśyati || 6|| dvijarājo mahāpuṇyastārāpatirviśeṣataḥ | oṣadhīnāṃ ca yo rājā sa somaḥ prīyatāṃ mama || 7|| iti candrastotraṃ sampūrṇam |

Chandra Stotram ପାଠ ବିଧି
Bathe and sit facing north-west before an image of the deity. Light a lamp and recite the Chandra Stotram slowly and with devotion. It may be chanted daily, or especially on Mondays and during Purnima (full moon).
