Vaishno Devi Aarti
श्री वैष्णो देवी आरती
Origin & Story
Traditional Hindi devotional aarti · Traditional · Devotional era
Mata Vaishno Devi is worshipped as a manifestation of the Divine Mother — said to embody Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi and Maha Saraswati — who dwells in a cave high in the Trikuta mountains near Katra, Jammu. Millions of pilgrims climb to her shrine each year crying 'Jai Mata Di.' This aarti, signed by the devotee Dhyanu Bhagat (to whom the Mother is said to have granted darshan), is sung at the close of her worship.
✦ As told in scripture
It is told that the Mother appeared to her devotee Dhyanu Bhagat to honour his pure faith. To this day pilgrims climb the Trikuta hills with the cry 'Jai Mata Di,' singing this aarti, and return saying their heartfelt wishes were granted at her cave.

Believed to grant 'manvanchit phal' — the heart's desire — to those who come to the Mother with firm faith.
Brings courage, prosperity and the Mother's grace; especially powerful during the nine days of Navratri.
How to Chant Vaishno Devi Aarti
Light a lamp (with ghee or camphor) and, holding it, perform the aarti by circling it before the deity while singing, ideally with a bell. Offer flowers and prasad, and conclude by taking the aarti's blessing (passing the hands over the flame and to the eyes). Sing with devotion and a clear heart.
