Benefits of Chanting Sankat Nashan Ganesh Stotra

The Sankatnashana Ganesha Stotra (from the Narada Purana) is recited to remove every obstacle and trouble (sankat) and to ensure success in any undertaking.

It enshrines the twelve sacred names of Ganesha; reciting them at the three sandhyas is promised to banish all fear of obstacles.

Its phalashruti grants knowledge to the student, wealth to the seeker, children to the parent, and liberation to the seeker of moksha.

Recited before beginning any new work, study, journey or venture, and daily for Ganesha's continuous grace.

Chanted with the Ganesh Chalisa, Vakratunda Mahakaya and Ganesha Pancharatnam to complete the worship of Lord Ganesha.

Spiritual Significance

The stotra makes its own promise: recited at dawn, noon and dusk, it leaves the devotee with 'no fear of obstacles' and grants every success — knowledge to the student, wealth to the seeker, children to the parent and liberation to the sage — and so it is chanted first before any work that one wishes to see completed without hindrance.

Origin & History

Source: Narada Purana

Author: Traditional (Narada Purana)

The Sankatnashana Ganesha Stotra comes from the Narada Purana, where it is given as a sure means of removing all obstacles. In eight verses it bows to Gauri's son and recites his twelve names, promising that whoever remembers them at the three sandhyas will face no obstacle and gain knowledge, wealth, children and liberation. It is among the most widely recited Ganesha stotras, chanted before any new beginning.
