श्री नवग्रह स्तोत्रम्

Verse 1
जपाकुसुमसङ्काशं काश्यपेयं महाद्युतिम् ।
तमोऽरिं सर्वपापघ्नं प्रणतोऽस्मि दिवाकरम् ॥
Japakusumasankasham kashyapeyam mahadyutim
Tamorim sarvapapaghnam pranatosmi divakaram
I bow to the Sun (Divakara), radiant as the hibiscus flower, the son of Kashyapa, of great splendour; the foe of darkness and destroyer of all sins.
Verse 2
दधिशङ्खतुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णवसम्भवम् ।
नमामि शशिनं सोमं शम्भोर्मुकुटभूषणम् ॥
Dadhishankhatusharabham kshirodarnavasambhavam
Namami shashinam somam shambhormukutabhushanam
I bow to the Moon (Soma), white as curd, conch and snow, born of the ocean of milk; the hare-marked one, the ornament upon Shambhu's (Shiva's) crown.
Verse 3
धरणीगर्भसम्भूतं विद्युत्कान्तिसमप्रभम् ।
कुमारं शक्तिहस्तं तं मङ्गलं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
Dharanigarbhasambhutam vidyutkantisamaprabham
Kumaram shaktihastam tam mangalam pranamamyaham
I bow to Mangala (Mars), born of the womb of the Earth, shining with the radiance of lightning; the youth (Kumara) who bears the spear in his hand.
Verse 4
प्रियङ्गुकलिकाश्यामं रूपेणाप्रतिमं बुधम् ।
सौम्यं सौम्यगुणोपेतं तं बुधं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
Priyangukalikashyamam rupenapratimam budham
Saumyam saumyagunopetam tam budham pranamamyaham
I bow to Budha (Mercury), dark as the bud of the priyangu creeper, unrivalled in beauty; gentle, and endowed with gentle virtues.
Verse 5
देवानां च ऋषीणां च गुरुं काञ्चनसन्निभम् ।
बुद्धिभूतं त्रिलोकेशं तं नमामि बृहस्पतिम् ॥
Devanam cha rishinam cha gurum kanchanasannibham
Buddhibhutam trilokesham tam namami brihaspatim
I bow to Brihaspati (Jupiter), guru of the gods and the sages, gleaming like gold; the embodiment of wisdom, the lord of the three worlds.
Verse 6
हिमकुन्दमृणालाभं दैत्यानां परमं गुरुम् ।
सर्वशास्त्रप्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
Himakundamrinalabham daityanam paramam gurum
Sarvashastrapravaktaram bhargavam pranamamyaham
I bow to Shukra (Venus), the son of Bhrigu, radiant as snow, jasmine and the lotus-stalk; the supreme guru of the demons, the expounder of all the scriptures.
Verse 7
नीलाञ्जनसमाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम् ।
छायामार्ताण्डसम्भूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम् ॥
Nilanjanasamabhasam raviputram yamagrajam
Chhayamartandasambhutam tam namami shanaishcharam
I bow to Shani (Saturn, the slow-mover), dark-gleaming as black collyrium; the son of the Sun and elder brother of Yama, born of Chhaya and the Sun (Martanda).
Verse 8
अर्धकायं महावीर्यं चन्द्रादित्यविमर्दनम् ।
सिंहिकागर्भसम्भूतं तं राहुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
Ardhakayam mahaviryam chandradityavimardanam
Simhikagarbhasambhutam tam rahum pranamamyaham
I bow to Rahu, of half a body and great might, the eclipser who torments the Moon and the Sun; born of the womb of Simhika.
Verse 9
पलाशपुष्पसङ्काशं तारकाग्रहमस्तकम् ।
रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
Palashapushpasankasham tarakagrahamastakam
Raudram raudratmakam ghoram tam ketum pranamamyaham
I bow to Ketu, resembling the red palasha flower, the head among the stars and planets; fierce, of terrible nature, and dreadful.
Verse 10
इति व्यासमुखोद्गीतं यः पठेत् सुसमाहितः ।
दिवा वा यदि वा रात्रौ विघ्नशान्तिर्भविष्यति ॥
Iti vyasamukhodgitam yah pathet susamahitah
Diva va yadi va ratrau vighnashantirbhavishyati
Whoever recites, with a well-composed mind, this hymn sung from the mouth of Vyasa — whether by day or by night — for him the affliction of the planets shall be stilled.
Verse 11
नरनारीनृपाणां च भवेद्दुःस्वप्ननाशनम् ।
ऐश्वर्यमतुलं तेषामारोग्यं पुष्टिवर्धनम् ॥
Naranarinripanam cha bhavedduhsvapnanashanam
Aishvaryamatulam teshamarogyam pushtivardhanam
For men, women and kings alike it destroys bad dreams, and brings them matchless prosperity, health, and the increase of strength.
Verse 12
ग्रहनक्षत्रजाः पीडास्तस्कराग्निसमुद्भवाः ।
ताः सर्वाः प्रशमं यान्ति व्यासो ब्रूते न संशयः ॥
Grahanakshatrajah pidastaskaragnisamudbhavah
Tah sarvah prashamam yanti vyaso brute na samshayah
The torments born of the planets and stars, and those arising from thieves and fire — all of these come to rest; thus declares Vyasa, beyond all doubt.
