Instructions
After a bath, sit facing east at dawn and chant "Om Ang Angarakaya Namah" 108 times on a mala, ideally on Tuesday. As a full remedy for a weak or afflicted Mars (Mangal), the mantra is traditionally completed as a japa of 10,000 repetitions over a fixed period, alongside the charity (daan) associated with the planet and, after consulting an astrologer, the wearing of its gemstone (Red Coral (Moonga)). Chant with faith and a calm, satvik discipline.
Origin & History
Source: The Vedic Navagraha mantra of Mars (Mangal)
Author: Traditional (Vedic Jyotish)
In Vedic astrology (jyotish) the nine grahas shape the course of life, and each has its own mantra for blessing and remedy. "Om Ang Angarakaya Namah" is the mantra of Mars (Mangal), which governs energy, courage, strength, land and property, brothers — and the Mangal (Manglik) dosha. When the planet is weak or malefic in the horoscope, sages prescribed chanting its mantra — together with charity, fasting on its day (Tuesday), worship of its deity and its gemstone (Red Coral (Moonga)) — to strengthen its grace and soften its difficulties.
