Verse 1
श्रीगुरु चरन सरोज रज, निज मनु मुकुरु सुधारि।
बरनउँ रघुबर बिमल जसु, जो दायकु फल चारि॥
Shri Guru Charan Saroj Raj, Nij Manu Mukuru Sudhari.
Baranau Raghubar Bimal Jasu, Jo Dayaku Phal Chari.
Having polished the mirror of my mind with the dust of my Guru's lotus feet, I describe the pure glory of Sri Ram, which bestows the four fruits of life.
Verse 2
बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके, सुमिरौं पवन-कुमार।
बल बुद्धि बिद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेस बिकार॥
Buddhiheen Tanu Jaanike, Sumirau Pavan-Kumar.
Bal Buddhi Vidya Dehu Mohi, Harahu Kalesh Bikaar.
Knowing my body to be devoid of intelligence, I remember the Son of Wind. Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove all afflictions and impurities.
Verse 3
जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुन सागर।
जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर॥
Jai Hanuman Gyan Gun Sagar.
Jai Kapis Tihun Lok Ujagar.
Victory to Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtue. Victory to the lord of monkeys, illuminator of the three worlds.
Verse 4
राम दूत अतुलित बल धामा।
अंजनि-पुत्र पवनसुत नामा॥
Ram Doot Atulit Bal Dhama.
Anjani-Putra Pavansut Nama.
Messenger of Ram, abode of immeasurable strength. Known as son of Anjani and son of the Wind.
Verse 5
महाबीर बिक्रम बजरंगी।
कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी॥
Mahabir Bikram Bajrangi.
Kumati Nivar Sumati Ke Sangi.
Great hero, mighty as a thunderbolt. Dispeller of evil thoughts, companion of good wisdom.
Verse 6
कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा।
कानन कुंडल कुंचित केसा॥
Kanchan Baran Biraj Subesa.
Kanan Kundal Kunchit Kesa.
Golden-complexioned, beautifully adorned. With earrings and curly hair.
Verse 7
हाथ बज्र औ ध्वजा बिराजै।
काँधे मूँज जनेऊ साजै॥
Hath Bajra Au Dhwaja Birajai.
Kandhe Moonj Janeu Sajai.
With mace and banner in hand. Sacred thread of munja grass on your shoulder.
Verse 8
संकर सुवन केसरीनंदन।
तेज प्रताप महा जग बंदन॥
Shankar Suvan Kesarinandan.
Tej Pratap Maha Jag Bandan.
Incarnation of Shiva, delight of Kesari. Your glory and might are revered throughout the world.
Verse 9
विद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर।
राम काज करिबे को आतुर॥
Vidyavan Guni Ati Chatur.
Ram Kaj Karibe Ko Aatur.
Learned, virtuous, and extremely clever. Always eager to carry out Ram's work.
Verse 10
प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया।
राम लखन सीता मन बसिया॥
Prabhu Charitra Sunibe Ko Rasiya.
Ram Lakhan Sita Man Basiya.
You delight in listening to the Lord's deeds. Ram, Lakshman, and Sita dwell in your heart.
Verse 11
सूक्ष्म रूप धरि सियहिं दिखावा।
बिकट रूप धरि लंक जरावा॥
Sukshma Roop Dhari Siyahi Dikhava.
Bikat Roop Dhari Lanka Jarava.
Assuming a tiny form, you appeared before Sita. In a fierce form, you burned Lanka.
Verse 12
भीम रूप धरि असुर संहारे।
रामचंद्र के काज सवाँरे॥
Bheem Roop Dhari Asur Sanhare.
Ramachandra Ke Kaj Savare.
In a mighty form, you destroyed the demons. You accomplished all of Lord Ram's tasks.
Verse 13
लाय सजीवन लखन जियाये।
श्रीरघुबीर हरषि उर लाये॥
Laay Sajeevan Lakhan Jiyaye.
Shri Raghubir Harashi Ur Laye.
You brought the life-giving herb and revived Lakshman. Sri Raghubir embraced you with great joy.
Verse 14
रघुपति कीन्हीं बहुत बड़ाई।
तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई॥
Raghupati Keenhi Bahut Badai.
Tum Mam Priya Bharatahi Sam Bhai.
Raghupati praised you greatly, saying: You are dear to me as my brother Bharat.
Verse 15
सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं।
अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं॥
Sahas Badan Tumharo Jas Gavai.
As Kahi Shripati Kanth Lagavai.
The thousand-headed Shesha sings your glory. So saying, Shripati embraced you.
Verse 16
सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा।
नारद सारद सहित अहीसा॥
Sanakadik Brahmadi Muneesa.
Narad Sarad Sahit Aheesa.
Sanak and the sages, Brahma and other gods, Narad, Sarada, and the king of serpents — all sing your praise.
Verse 17
जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहाँ ते।
कबि कोबिद कहि सकें कहाँ ते॥
Jam Kuber Digpal Jahan Te.
Kabi Kobid Kahi Sake Kahan Te.
Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of directions — poets and scholars cannot fully describe your glory.
Verse 18
तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा।
राम मिलाय राज पद दीन्हा॥
Tum Upkar Sugrivahi Keenha.
Ram Milay Raj Pad Deenha.
You helped Sugriva greatly. You united him with Ram and restored his kingdom.
Verse 19
तुम्हरो मंत्र विभीषन माना।
लंकेश्वर भए सब जग जाना॥
Tumharo Mantra Vibheeshan Mana.
Lankeshwar Bhaye Sab Jag Jana.
Vibhishana heeded your counsel. The whole world knows he became Lord of Lanka.
Verse 20
जुग सहस्र जोजन पर भानू।
लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू॥
Jug Sahastra Jojan Par Bhanu.
Leelyo Tahi Madhur Phal Janu.
The sun, thousands of leagues away — you swallowed it thinking it a sweet fruit.
Verse 21
प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं।
जलधि लाँघि गये अचरज नाहीं॥
Prabhu Mudrika Meli Mukh Mahi.
Jaladhi Langhi Gaye Acharaj Nahi.
Carrying the Lord's ring in your mouth, you leaped across the ocean — no surprise at all.
Verse 22
दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते।
सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते॥
Durgam Kaj Jagat Ke Jete.
Sugam Anugrah Tumhare Tete.
Every difficult task in the world becomes easy with your grace.
Verse 23
राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे।
होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे॥
Ram Duare Tum Rakhware.
Hot Na Aagya Binu Paisare.
You are the gatekeeper at Ram's door. None may enter without your permission.
Verse 24
सब सुख लहैं तुम्हारी सरना।
तुम रक्षक काहू को डर ना॥
Sab Sukh Lahai Tumhari Sarna.
Tum Rakshak Kahu Ko Dar Na.
All happiness comes to those who take your refuge. With you as protector, there is nothing to fear.
Verse 25
आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै।
तीनों लोक हाँक तें काँपै॥
Apan Tej Samharo Aapai.
Teenon Lok Hank Te Kanpai.
You alone can withstand your own splendor. The three worlds tremble at your roar.
Verse 26
भूत पिशाच निकट नहिं आवै।
महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै॥
Bhoot Pishach Nikat Nahi Aavai.
Mahabir Jab Nam Sunavai.
Ghosts and evil spirits dare not come near when they hear the great hero Hanuman's name.
Verse 27
नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा।
जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा॥
Nase Rog Harai Sab Peera.
Japat Nirantar Hanumat Beera.
All diseases are destroyed and all pain removed by constantly chanting brave Hanuman's name.
Verse 28
संकट तें हनुमान छुडावै।
मन क्रम बचन ध्यान जो लावै॥
Sankat Te Hanuman Chhudavai.
Man Kram Bachan Dhyan Jo Lavai.
Hanuman rescues from all crises those who meditate on him in thought, word, and deed.
Verse 29
सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा।
तिन के काज सकल तुम साजा॥
Sab Par Ram Tapasvi Raja.
Tin Ke Kaj Sakal Tum Saja.
Ram is the supreme ascetic king. You accomplish all his tasks.
Verse 30
और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै।
सोइ अमित जीवन फल पावै॥
Aur Manorath Jo Koi Lavai.
Soi Amit Jeevan Phal Pavai.
Whoever comes to you with any desire obtains the imperishable fruit of life.
Verse 31
चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा।
है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा॥
Charon Jug Partap Tumhara.
Hai Parsiddh Jagat Ujiyara.
Your glory prevails through all four ages. Your fame illuminates the entire world.
Verse 32
साधु-संत के तुम रखवारे।
असुर निकंदन राम दुलारे॥
Sadhu Sant Ke Tum Rakhware.
Asur Nikandan Ram Dulare.
You are the protector of saints and sages. Destroyer of demons, beloved of Ram.
Verse 33
अष्ट सिद्धि नौ निधि के दाता।
अस बर दीन जानकी माता॥
Ashta Siddhi Nau Nidhi Ke Data.
As Bar Deen Janaki Mata.
You grant the eight supernatural powers and nine treasures. Mother Janaki has given you this boon.
Verse 34
राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा।
सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा॥
Ram Rasayan Tumhare Pasa.
Sada Raho Raghupati Ke Dasa.
You possess the elixir of Ram's devotion. You remain forever the servant of Raghupati.
Verse 35
तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै।
जनम-जनम के दुख बिसरावै॥
Tumhare Bhajan Ram Ko Pavai.
Janam Janam Ke Dukh Bisravai.
Through your worship, one attains Ram. The sorrows of countless lifetimes are erased.
Verse 36
अंत काल रघुबर पुर जाई।
जहाँ जन्म हरि-भक्त कहाई॥
Ant Kaal Raghubar Pur Jai.
Jahan Janma Hari Bhakt Kahai.
At the end of life, one goes to Ram's abode. And wherever one is born, is known as a devotee of Hari.
Verse 37
और देवता चित्त न धरई।
हनुमत सेइ सर्ब सुख करई॥
Aur Devata Chitt Na Dharai.
Hanumat Sei Sarb Sukh Karai.
Without worshipping any other deity, Hanuman alone gives all happiness.
Verse 38
संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा।
जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा॥
Sankat Katai Mitai Sab Peera.
Jo Sumirai Hanumat Balbeera.
All difficulties vanish and all pain ceases for those who remember the mighty Hanuman.
Verse 39
जै जै जै हनुमान गोसाईं।
कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाईं॥
Jai Jai Jai Hanuman Gosai.
Kripa Karahu Gurudev Ki Nai.
Victory, victory, victory to Lord Hanuman! Bestow your grace upon us as our supreme teacher.
Verse 40
जो सत बार पाठ कर कोई।
छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई॥
Jo Sat Bar Path Kar Koi.
Chhutahi Bandi Maha Sukh Hoi.
Whoever recites this a hundred times is freed from bondage and attains great bliss.
Verse 41
जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा।
होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा॥
Jo Yah Padhai Hanuman Chalisa.
Hoye Siddhi Sakhi Gaureesa.
Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa attains perfection — Lord Shiva is witness.
Verse 42
तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा।
कीजै नाथ हृदय महँ डेरा॥
Tulsidas Sada Hari Chera.
Keejai Nath Hriday Mah Dera.
Tulsidas, forever the servant of Hari, prays: O Lord, make my heart your dwelling place.
Verse 43
पवन तनय संकट हरन, मंगल मूरति रूप।
राम लखन सीता सहित, हृदय बसहु सुर भूप॥
Pavan Tanay Sankat Haran, Mangal Murti Roop.
Ram Lakhan Sita Sahit, Hriday Basahu Sur Bhoop.
O Son of Wind, destroyer of sorrow, embodiment of auspiciousness — together with Ram, Lakshman, and Sita, dwell forever in my heart, O king of gods.
