Dashrath Krit Shani Stotra
दशरथ कृत शनि स्तोत्र
Origin & Story
Skanda Purana / Astrological tradition · King Dasharatha · Treta Yuga (mythological era)
According to the Skanda Purana, when Saturn (Shani) was about to enter an inauspicious position in King Dasharatha's horoscope, the king was terrified — Saturn's transit could destroy his kingdom and family. Dasharatha composed this stotra with deep devotion and recited it before Shani Dev. Saturn was so pleased by the king's humility and devotion that he promised to be gentle and departed peacefully from the unfavorable position.
✦ As told in scripture
The Skanda Purana records that after Dasharatha's prayer, Saturn not only left the inauspicious position but also promised that anyone who recites this stotra during Saturn's difficult transits would be protected from his harshest effects. Saturn said: 'Just as I have been gentle with you, I will be gentle with anyone who recites this stotra with devotion during my transit.' This makes it arguably the most powerful Shani remedy in existence — endorsed by Saturn himself.
