yāvantaḥ patitāstasya śarīrādraktabindavaḥ tāvantaḥ puruṣā jātāstadvīryabalavikramāḥ

Meaning

As many drops of blood as fell from his body, so many men (purushas) were born, of his might, strength and prowess.
