tataḥ prathamamevāgre śaraśaktyṛṣṭivṛṣṭibhiḥ vavarṣuruddhatāmarṣāstāṃ devīmamarārayaḥ

Meaning

Then, at the very outset, the foes of the gods, swollen with rage, rained showers of arrows, spears and lances upon that Devi.
