svargānnirākṛtāḥ sarve tena devagaṇā bhuvi vicaranti yathā martyā mahiṣeṇa durātmanā

Meaning

Cast out of heaven by that evil-souled Mahisha, all the hosts of gods wander upon the earth like mortals.
